If you are looking for natural ways to quit smoking, then you need to read this article. I was a smoker for 20 years and last year I was finally able to quit successfully. I must have tried and failed 30 times before that, but believe me, these natural methods I used are effective and really did help. Some of the natural methods people have used to quit smoking without drugs are hypnotherapy, detoxification, and stress reduction.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is a specialized practice within the field of psychology. Contrary to popular belief, it is not some sort of magic or voodoo, but a very real and effective manipulation of your subconscious mind. In hypnosis, a person is gradually relaxed and put into a state of semi-awareness known as a trance. While in this state, the hypnotist is able to give gentle suggestions directly to your subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy is one of the natural ways to quit smoking that I researched, but it does require a doctor visit and is reasonably expensive.
Detoxification
Some believe that some of the withdrawal associated with quitting smoking relates to toxic substances that have been building in our cells during all of our years as a smoker. Everyone has heard about the hundreds of toxic chemicals contained in cigarette smoke, and as these byproducts are released into our bloodstream after we quit, they can cause anxiety and discomfort. You can detoxify your body to speed this process along by drinking lots of water, eating healthy whole foods, and taking herbal supplements such as acai berry extract.
Stress Reduction
In my experience, nicotine withdrawal symptoms got worse whenever I was under an above average amount of stress. There are many natural ways you can lower your stress to improve you chances to quit smoking. One of them is meditation, which involves quieting your mind and relaxing your body without moving. Another popular relaxation exercise would be yoga or tai chi.
I think you can see that natural ways to quit smoking do not have to be less effective than taking prescription drugs or nicotine replacement therapy.
